Welcome to Local 562
Donald C. Orf, Sr., retired brother member and retired Business Representative of Plumbers' and Pipefitters' Local Union No. 562 of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at his home in St. Louis County, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Mr. Orf was 72 years old.
Don Orf grew up in the St. Louis area and joined Local Union No. 35 after graduating from Resurrection Catholic Grade School and St. Mary's Catholic High School. After his initiation in December of 1958, he served Plumbers' Local Union No. 35 as an apprentice, journeyman, foreman, teacher and officer. During his years with Local Union No. 35, Don was elected President, Business Agent, Executive Board Member and UA Convention Delegate. With the merging of Plumbers' Local Union No. 35 and Pipefitters' Local Union No. 562 in 1999, Don continued his responsibilities as Business Representative until his retirement in 2004.
Don has been a long time resident of South St. Louis County. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his family.
Mr. Orf is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy, two sons, Donald (Kathy) Orf, Jr. and David (Diane) Orf and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by their son Steven Orf.
